Deputy Chief Whip of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Ted Elemeforo, has called on President Bola Tinubu and other leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to issue a public apology to former President Goodluck Jonathan. This demand stems from the APC’s implementation of policies that they had previously criticized during Jonathan’s administration.
Elemeforo accused the APC of hypocrisy, pointing out that the party is now guilty of the same issues it criticized during Jonathan’s presidency. He stated, “In this country, there is always a double standard. People like Tinubu that protested against oil subsidy need to publicly apologize to President Goodluck Jonathan for implementing what they earlier criticized.”
Furthermore, Elemeforo expressed a lack of confidence in the administration of President Tinubu, emphasizing that the APC has failed to provide solutions to Nigeria’s challenges. He affirmed his loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stating that it remains a better alternative for the country.
On the issue of recent defections from the PDP, Elemeforo clarified that his decision to remain with the party is based on conviction. He believes the PDP has a greater capacity to reposition the country than the ruling APC. He stated, “I do not believe that the APC is a solution to Nigeria’s problem, and I do not have faith in the Tinubu-led APC government. I believe that the PDP would offer a better alternative to solve the problem of Nigeria.”
