NPFL Imposes ₦1 Million Fine on Clubs for Ball Boy Time-Wasting, Auwalu Returns for Pillars, Kun Khalifat Aims for Survival

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has taken a firm stance against time-wasting tactics involving ball boys, imposing a fine of one million naira on any club found responsible. The league’s Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, communicated this decision in a circular to all participating clubs, emphasizing that such actions contradict the principles of fair play and damage the league’s reputation.

Owumi described the act as a form of misconduct under NPFL regulations and issued a stern warning that the league will continue to enforce professionalism and integrity throughout the current season.

Kano Pillars Welcome Back Auwalu

In a positive turn of events, Kano Pillars midfielder Auwalu Ali Malam has resumed training after a period sidelined by injury. The 24-year-old, who last played in Pillars’ matchday two encounter against Wikki Tourists, returned to light training with his teammates on Thursday. His return is a significant boost for the team as they prepare for their upcoming weekend fixture against Barau FC at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.

Kun Khalifat FC Focused on Survival

Meanwhile, Kun Khalifat FC has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining its top-flight status, despite a challenging start to the season. The Owerri-based club recently secured a stunning victory over nine-time champions Enyimba but remains grounded in their approach.

“We are not feeling comfortable anytime soon! We are not thinking we have arrived. It’s not yet UHURU,” the club stated on social media. “We pray to finish the season the way we planned by approaching every game like finals. We are still in line with the promise we made to our fans. We will fight till the end of NPFL2026.”

Kun Khalifat has collected eight points from eight matches so far and will next face Bayelsa United in a matchday nine encounter at the Samson Siasia Stadium on Sunday.
