Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi has praised head coach Eric Chelle and striker Victor Osimhen following Nigeria’s impressive 4-0 victory over Benin Republic in a recent World Cup qualifier. The win, which secured Nigeria’s place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs, was highlighted by Osimhen’s hat-trick and a goal from Frank Onyeka.
Speaking on SuperSport after the match, Akpeyi emphasized the positive changes under Chelle’s leadership, stating, “Since Eric Chelle took over, there have been significant changes, and the players are stepping up.” He also commended Osimhen as a pivotal figure in the squad, describing him as the type of player every successful team needs.
